INFINITY ORB

GUARDIANS INFINITY ORB

The ORB was designed to safely contain the INFINITY STONE, one of six gems of ultimate power.  Although the gem seen in the film was never fully identified, it is strongly believed to be the POWER stone of the set of 6.

This is a replica of the Infinity Orb from one of my FAVE MOVIES!!!!

INFINITY ORB KIT

Above and below you can see examples of the CLOSED ORB fully built, and displayed on the claw base.

Here's a look at the DELUXE OPEN ORB build up. You can see the meticulous hand-made interior details!  Magnificent~!

This is the CLOSED ORB KIT: (2 PARTS)

The DELUXE ORB KIT.   Two separately cast hemispheres with HIGHLY detailed interiors cast in place.   Plus the infinity stone!  You can buy your magnets online or at craft stores.

This is the CLAW BASE in kit form.  5 parts that you trim, paint and assemble to hold your orb!

SAMPLE BUILDUP BY RANDY NEUBERT SHOWING A NEW LEVEL OF BUILD OPPORTUNITY FOR THIS KIT.  He lit the infinity stone with an LED and also suspended the top portion of the orb with a clear section of acrylic tube.

HOW THE DISPLAY STAND WAS MADE:

How I made the Orb:

Special thanks to the builders at thingverse!  There are a few models of an orb that I 3D printed that gave me a skeletel headstart of a hemisphere.  This was then resculpted and redetailed.

I started doing some mods in bondo and fiberglass.  Once the Hemisphere was detailed, I pulled a silicone mold and cast a duplicate.

The additional hemisphere was modified and finally molded to produce the mold for the second generational casting.

When the two hemispheres were completed, I tackled the interior bowl shape.  This was done using a balloon and a plaster postive and negative mold.  The 'crystal' is a stone that will be molded and cast in purple clear resin.

Here's the result of the thermal forming interior bowl pattern:

Now it was time to engineer the interior steps. I did this in CAD and laser cut acrylic structures.

Here's the finished CAD project for the interior detailing:

INTERIOR CORE ASSEMBLY BEGINS:

The core was molded, and a duplicate cast and the copies were carefully set into the basin of each hemisphere.  The gaps were filled in with epoxy and now the cored hemispheres were ready for matrix molding.  THIS IS ALOT OF STEPS TO PRODUCE THIS REPLICA!!!

The Display base was a combination of milling, laser cutting acrylic, and traditional mold making.

First the base was milled in tooling foam:

Once the base was tooled, it was molded and measurements were taken to create the four arms.
