The Robots and Droids category is an online-gallery only. The lifesize artwork is not a commercially available product and should be viewed and enjoyed as artwork made by fans for fandom enjoyment. Robotics in the real-world is advancing by leaps & bounds and a look back in time at these creations, in my opinion, is fun and nostalgic. Have a look around and ENJOY!! |
LIFESIZE ASTROMECH PARTS!!!! |
The BODY is cast as ONE SINGLE PIECE!! It is cast from resin and fiberglass and left hollow to allow for complex electronics. |
The DOME is cast from resin and fiberglass for strength. The entire kit consists of the dome shell, 3 emitter caps, the lens material, and logic box transparencies. |
The legs are wonderfully crafted in urethane resin and filled SOLID for strength and support. They are clearly delineated as left and right (note the rods and buttons switch sides). One leg consists of: the main shell, 2 bolt caps, and 2 brick details (not showing in these particular photos). |
These are the OUTER BOOTS. The are cast with a urethane foam inner core that can be hollowed out should you decide to install wheelchair motors. |
Here are the BATTERY PACKS. They slide onto the inner side of the outer boots. They are cast in urethane resin and filled solid iwth urethane foam to keep them lightweight. |

LEFT AND RIGHT LEGS. You can see the separated rod caps and detail bricks. |
The Beauty of these domes is that they have ALL THE PANEL detail molded into place. Once trimmed and cleaned they can be chrome plated. Here's how that looks. |
